So you want to be a Coach?

Being a coach is a position that comes with many responsibilities. Some think that just because you have played football in little league, high school or even the college ranks makes you qualified to be a coach. Well I am hear to tell you that it does not. Now granted everyone goes into coaching for various reasons, whether their dad was a coach or maybe that is all you know how to do is perform in the football world. I have found the greatest coaches are the ones that are there for the love of the game and are there for the players no matter what the age. If you are just starting out or if you have been coaching for decades one thing should never be forgotten, there would be no coaches if there were not any players.
Ever since the first game back around the late 1800’s up in the ivy league, players have always been center stage. As time went on coaches came about as more of a guiding force of sorts. An individual that is looked upon for leadership and to see hope when there might not be any. Nowadays coaches are many things, teachers, motivators, father figures, role models, figure heads, face of the community, strategist, recruiter and most of all someone that loves the game. As for me I love the game and always will. It has given me so much in my life (I got the scars to prove it) including morals, ethics, friendships and most of all memories.
Now coaching is not for everyone. It is long hours, tons of multitasking and constantly pushing yourself to the become better, but it is all worth it.
The golden rule that every new coach should remember besides that the players always come first is that you must find your own coaching style…
