Creating the Next Generation of Football Players
Aug 15th, 2007 by Coach DeLorm
Ok so today i did a lot of learning about the whole Wordpress world. I learned how to upload many things including a theme, plugins, and widgets. I felt like being back in the first year of football where everything was all greek to me. That reminds me of when I coached the Columbine Cougars in my home town of Littleton, CO.
I was 17 and fresh out of the high school player ranks. My brother (7 years old) was on the team and it was his first year. That year taught me a lot about coaching including how much coaches shape their players.
You always hear the heart warming tales from the pro players about how a little league coach inspired him to become the player that stands before us today. Well it is all true. Little league coaches are the ones that lay the ground work for every football player.
Oh yea… the Cougars went onto take the conference and won the championship. Both the players and I changed for the better that year. Years later, many of those same players would go onto lead their respective high school teams to state playoff and championship games.
